Telangana embraced the spirit of Christmas with enthusiasm and joy on Wednesday as the festival was celebrated across the state, bringing communities together in a vibrant display of unity and tradition. The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad came alive with illuminated churches, decorated homes, and festive public spaces.

The day began early for many, with families attending morning services at various churches from as early as 7 a.m. The harmonious sound of carols filled the air, creating a spiritual ambiance. At The King’s Temple Church in Secunderabad, P. Keerthi, a 37-year-old attended the service along with his wife and two daughters.

“We have been coming to this church for three years now, and it’s a wonderful time to celebrate Christmas with the community, sharing food and fun,” he said.

Hyderabad’s historic churches, including All Saints Church in Trimulgherry, CSI St. Mark’s Church in Mettuguda, St. Mary’s Basilica on SD Road, Holy Trinity Church in Bolarum, Church of St. John the Baptist in East Marredpally, and St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Gunfoundry, stood out with their festive lights and intricate decorations. The spectacle was captivating enough to make passing commuters pause and admire the grandeur.

Christmas celebrations extended beyond places of worship as the festive spirit spilled into Hyderabad’s culinary and cultural spaces. Restaurants across the city offered special brunches and live musical performances, attracting families and groups looking to extend their celebrations. “We attended church in the morning and wanted to make the most of the holiday by eating out. We found restaurants offering special Christmas brunches online and decided on Westin Mindspace,” said Satish Reddy, a 27-year-old IT consultant.
