NHAI invites tenders for RRR’s 161-km northern arm | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited tenders for the construction and development of the northern corridor of the much-awaited Regional Ring Road (RRR). The four-lane greenfield road of 161 km is estimated to cost over 7,104 crore and has been divided into five packages.
The tenders were invited under an engineering procurement construction (EPC) contract basis. Under the EPC, the Union govt would fund the construction cost, with the contractor preparing the detailed engineering design, procuring all the materials and equipment, and then constructing to deliver a functioning facility or asset to the Centre.
Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has termed it a day that would be written in golden letters in the history of Telangana. “This is the amazing achievement of chief minister A Revanth Reddy-led Congress govt in just one year’s time, as opposed to the RRR project being neglected by the previous BRS govt. RRR will pave the way for a golden future for Telangana,” he said in response to the tenders invited by NHAI on Friday.
As per the NHAI notification, the last date for submission of tenders is up to 11.30am on Feb 12, 2025. NHAI would open the tenders on Feb 14, 2025. The contract agency has to complete the construction of the road in two years from the date of starting works and also maintain the road for at least five years after its construction.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said he has already submitted several requests to Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari for RRR. “Although RRR was proposed in 2017, the previous govt left it to neglect. I have been continuously working for the RRR works to commence since I assumed office as the minister in Dec 2023. I have held several meetings with the district collectors on land acquisition along with CM Revanth and resolved several issues. While ORR was a game changer, RRR is going to be a super game changer,” the minister added.
