Born on 28 December 1937 in Bombay, British India (present-day Mumbai), Ratan Tata is the son of Naval Tata and Suni Commissariat. They separated when Ratan Tata was 10 years old. He was then formally adopted by his grandmother Nawazbai Tata through the JN Petit Parsi Orphanage. Ratan Tata was raised with his half-brother Noel Tata (son of Naval Tata and Simon Tata).

Ratan Tata’s early education
He received his early education from Campion School, Mumbai. From here he completed his studies till 8th class. After this, he went to Cathedral and John Cannon School in Mumbai and Bishop Cotton School in Shimla for further studies.

higher education
After completing his school education, Ratan Tata went to the United States of America (USA) and took admission in Cornell University, where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch). After this, in the year 1975, he did Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School in United Kingdom.
