
Naval ships illuminated with lights and firing flares at the sea off the Beach Road in Visakhapatnam on Saturday as part of the rehearsals for the Operational Demonstration by the Indian Navy.

The rehearsals of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) ‘Operational Demonstration’ began on a grand note on R.K. Beach Road on Saturday (December 28) and provided a visual treat to beach visitors.
Highlights of the rehearsals include tactical manoeuvres by fighter aircraft, warplane formation, skydiving display by Marine Commandos (MARCOS), search and rescue operations by MARCOS, warships and submarines, composite flypast and firing flare to the sky. The rehearsals came to an end with the illumination of the ships.
Being a weekend, a large number of tourists, who are visiting the city in the winter season, thronged the Beach Road to watch the rehearsals and capture the moments on their mobile phones. Many occupied spots in front of the Viswa Priya Function Hall well before 4 p.m.

Several citizens expressed happiness over the conduct of ‘Operational Demonstration’ in the city after the ‘Navy Day’ event was shifted to Puri in Odisha this year.
A large number of police personnel were mobilised as part of bandobast, and traffic police personnel monitored parking and the vehicular flow on the Beach Road stretch.

The authorities expect more crowd on the second day of the rehearsals on Sunday (December 29) and also for the final rehearsal on January 2.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend ‘Operational Demonstration’ by the Indian Navy on January 4 and will address the public from the stage opposite Viswa Priya Function Hall, which is being decked up by the authorities.
Placing of barricades and other arrangements are being done at a brisk pace on the Beach Road. After ‘Operational Demonstration’, the Chief Minister will proceed to ENC, where he will take part in high tea.
