Hyundai Motor India is all set to foray into the mass-market electric vehicle (EV) segment very soon. The South Korean automaker plans to launch the electric iteration of its top-selling Creta midsize SUV. This will be Hyundai’s answer to the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti e-Vitara and Mahindra XUV 9e. Here, we address the most frequently asked questions about the Hyundai Creta EV.

When will the Hyundai Creta EV launch?

The electric Creta will make its official debut and first public appearance at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, slated to begin on 17th January in New Delhi. Prices for the EV will also be announced on the inaugural day of the Auto Expo. Deliveries, however, are expected to commence in February 2025.

What is the range of the Hyundai Creta EV?

The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the specifications of the new Creta EV. However, the electric SUV is reported to feature a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor delivering 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. This setup is also available in the globally sold new Hyundai Kona EV. With this battery pack, the Creta EV is expected to offer a range of over 350km on a full charge.

How is the Hyundai Creta EV different from the regular Creta?

The Creta EV will retain the original stance and design elements. However, a few EV-specific features will distinguish it from the regular Creta. While it hasn’t yet been seen in the flesh, it is expected to feature a newly designed closed-off grille, revised bumpers, and new alloys, along with ‘EV’ badges inside and out.

What features does the Hyundai Creta EV offer?

The interior layout and features of the electric Creta will be nearly identical to its ICE counterpart. However, it will come with a new three-spoke steering wheel instead of the flat-bottom unit. Hyundai might update the infotainment system’s UI (user interface) and add more features. It will include a drive selector controller positioned near the steering column. The Creta EV will retain the HVAC controls on the center panel, similar to the new Alcazar. The center console will look slightly different, featuring physical buttons for cooled seats, two cup holders, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, and auto-hold functionality.

How much does the Hyundai Creta EV cost?

The Creta EV prices are expected to start at around ₹19 lakh – ₹20 lakh for the entry-level variant. The feature-packed top trim might cost around ₹27 lakh.
