Air India New Delhi-Visakhapatnam flight receives bomb threat; declared hoax – Airlines/Aviation News

An Air India flight from New Delhi to Visakhapatnam received a bomb threat late Tuesday night, but it was found to be a hoax after thorough checks on landing in the port city, an official said.

According to Visakhapatnam Airport Director S. Raja Reddy, Delhi police received the bomb threat call and alerted the airline and Visakhapatnam airport.

“It (flight) landed safely and on thoroughly checking the flight, it was found to be a false call,” Reddy told PTI that there were 107 passengers on board the flight to Visakhapatnam, PTI reported.

After the passengers were deboarded and the aircraft was checked, nothing suspicious was found, the director said.

A few days back, a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight from Jabalpur was diverted to Nagpur following a bomb threat. The airline stated that flight 6E-7308 was diverted after a bomb threat was discovered in a note left in the aircraft’s washroom. After a thorough search by security agencies, nothing suspicious was found, the official added.

In another incident reported in August, a full emergency was declared at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after an Air India flight from Mumbai received a bomb threat. The flight, carrying 135 passengers, landed safely at the airport around 8 am and was subsequently moved to an isolation bay, according to PTI.
