Vijayawada: NTR district police imposed certain restrictions for the night of Dec 31 (Tuesday) in view of public safety during the New Year celebrations. Police commissioner S V Rajasekhar Babu requested the public to cooperate with the cops and avoid facing strict actions.
He specifically clarified that roadside celebrations are not allowed after midnight. Those driving vehicles after 11pm should not drive at high speed or negligently. Triple riding is completely prohibited and the commissioner strictly warned against driving under the influence of alcohol.
Rajasekhar further stated that complete traffic restrictions will be imposed on major roads in the city, such as Bandar Road, Eluru Road, and BRTS Road. He also clarified that traffic will not be allowed on Benz Circle flyovers and Kanaka Durga flyover. Traveling and New Year celebrations along the West Bypass Road are completely restricted. He warned against gathering in groups and cutting cakes on the road. He stated that roaming around on vehicles and shouting loudly are prohibited on the night of Dec 31 and strict action will be taken against those who would misbehave..
