Hyderabad: A 76-year-old retired merchant navy officer who raped and impregnated his 15-year-old neighbour was on Monday sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life, while another man, a farmer, was awarded 20-year rigorous imprisonment in the case reported at the Sultan Bazar police station in 2022.
After seeing the first accused sexually assaulting the girl, the second accused, who is the survivor’s distant relative, blackmailed her and raped her at her home.
As the girl was in the fifth month of pregnancy when the case was reported, it was terminated with permission from the high court, and the foetus was sent for forensic examination. The DNA analysis confirmed that the 76-year-old was the biological father of the foetus. Further, the girl also testified before the court about how her relative blackmailed her, and raped her. TNN
