Acharya admitted to hospital late night
Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Director of Mahavir Vatsalya Heart Hospital, said that Acharya was suffering from cold and cough for the last three days. He was undergoing treatment at home on the basis of OPD consultation. At around 2 o’clock on Saturday night, when he had trouble breathing due to low oxygen level in his body, his relatives brought him to the hospital. Senior doctors from all departments had arrived for his treatment. After nebulization and giving medicine, his condition became normal to a great extent by 4 in the morning. Between 5 and 6 in the morning, he said that he was feeling fine and expressed his wish to rest and asked everyone including his relatives to go home and take rest. His condition suddenly worsened between 6 to 7 in the morning and the doctor arrived. An attempt was made to wake him up, but seeing him unconscious, the doctors continued giving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about one and a half hours. It was of no use. Death was announced at eight o’clock on Sunday morning.
