Hyderabad: A 31-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 1.5 lakh after a court found him guilty of raping and impregnating his niece. The judge also awarded 4 lakh compensation to the girl in the case reported at Doultabad police station, Vikarabad, in Dec 2022.
SP Vikarabad K Narayana Reddy appreciated the investigation team, court duty officers, and the prosecution team for the conviction.
According to police, the girl, then 13, was studying in a govt residential school in Kodangal, and her parents migrated to Hyderabad for livelihood. In Dec 2022, the girl fell when she was in the hostel, and the hostel authorities informed her parents.
As they were in Hyderabad, they requested the accused to pick up the girl from the hostel and take her to a doctor. The convict took the girl to his home in Doultabad and got her treated. Under the pretext of giving her some rest, he made her stay at his home.
As the girl was sick, he took advantage of the situation, threatened, and raped her on multiple occasions. A few days later, when her situation did not improve, her parents came home and took her to Hyderabad. During treatment in a Hyderabad hospital, she was found to be pregnant. After the hospital staff informed the cops, a Zero FIR was registered in Cyberabad and later transferred to Vikarabad district.
Subsequently, with the court’s permission, the girl’s pregnancy was terminated. During the trial, the court relied on the statement of the girl, the DNA test confirming the accused as the biological father of the aborted foetus, and other evidence, and pronounced him guilty.
