The first commercial flight validation test was recently conducted at the Navi Mumbai International Airport – a crucial milestone before the new airport opens for commercial traffic. The test was successfully conducted by Indigo Airlines’ Airbus A320. It landed on the brand-new runway and was welcomed with a traditional water salute. The successful landing of a commercial aircraft validates and establishes the synchronized functioning of the Instrument Approach Procedures at the new airport. A technical assessment is carried out along with landing and take-off manoeuvres. The data collected is validated by the DGCA before issuing the aerodrome license. Earlier this year, the Navi Mumbai International Airport successfully conducted the flight calibration of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI). It was followed by the inaugural landing of an Indian Air Force C-295 tactical airlifter. Source:NDTV
