Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday dismissed speculations about an imminent cabinet expansion, stating that no such changes will take place until March.
Talking to reporters, Pawan also clarified that his elder brother, Nagababu, will first be appointed as an MLC, after which discussions on his inclusion in the cabinet inclusion will proceed.
The rumours started after CM Chandrababu Naidu hinted at Nagababu’s induction into the cabinet. However, Pawan made it clear that Nagababu’s appointment as MLC will precede any cabinet-related decisions. “Nagababu has worked alongside me as the general secretary of Jana Sena and made significant sacrifices to strengthen our party,” he said.
Pawan further said that Nagababu was initially considered for Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 elections but withdrew after the seat was allocated to BJP as part of NDA alliance. He also revealed that Nagababu was expected to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha earlier but missed the opportunity.
Responding to criticism of nepotism, Pawan said that he is against giving positions to family members.
