Aiming to revitalize its business in India, the Japanese automaker introduced the Honda Elevate midsize SUV in late 2023. Within a couple of months, the company began exporting it to Japan under the name WR-V. What you see here is a heavily modified version of the Japan-spec Honda WR-V (Elevate), crafted by the renowned car modifier Damn. This modified Elevate has been named the Damd WR-V Reverb. Interestingly, this retro-inspired SUV will make its public debut at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, scheduled to be held from January 10th to 12th in Chiba.
Damd-Modified Honda Elevate
At first glance, it bears a striking resemblance to the 1990s Jeep Cherokee. The front fascia has been completely redesigned. Up front, the modified Honda Elevate features a six-slot grille and rectangular headlamp clusters reminiscent of the Cherokee. Compared to the regular model, it sports a boxier front bumper with faux aluminum accents.

The Damd WR-V Reverb is equipped with wood side paneling, similar to typical American SUVs. The modified Elevate also features newly designed black steel wheels fitted with BF Goodrich mud-terrain tires. The interior feels refreshed with new chequered fabric upholstery and minor enhancements.
Powering the Damd-modified Honda Elevate is the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol i-VTEC engine paired with a 7-speed CVT automatic gearbox. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 120bhp and 145Nm of torque.

Honda Elevate EV for India
For the Indian market, Honda has confirmed plans for a midsize electric SUV based on the Elevate. It will be the first model under Honda’s ACE (Asian Compact Electric) project and is expected to launch in 2026. This new Honda electric SUV will feature a unique nameplate and a slightly different design compared to its donor model. The carmaker plans to export 50–70 percent of its total production to major overseas markets, including Japan.
