Hyderabad: As the new year begins, the finance department has asked the all the govt departments to prepare estimates for the 2025- 26 budget and revised budget for 2024-25.
“The budget is prepared keeping in view the general policy of the govt aimed at the welfare of the people and the development of the country. The main objectives of the budgetary policy are to provide effective administration, improve infrastructure facilities, provide and promote employment opportunities, ensure stability in process, promote economic growth, reduce inequalities while maintaining fiscal balances and economic sustainability,” said the finance department in its directive.
Govt has asked the department heads to avoid speculative estimations or over and under-projections. All projections should align with actual requirements only. Projections for maintenance, office establishment (including vehicles), rents, water and electricity, office stationery, outsourced services, welfare programs, and subsidy programs should be based solely on actual needs, supported by proper justification, the finance dept said.
According to the provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act, all heads of departments and estimating officers asked officials to provide information using the prescribed proforma included with the budget estimates. These statements are required to be presented to the legislature as outlined in the FRBM Rules of 2006.
