Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress govt of falsely implicating him in the alleged corruption case surrounding the Formula E race, asserting no corruption was involved.
He pointed out that even Minister Ponnam Prabhakar had previously acknowledged procedural lapses but not corruption. While admitting that he had received summons from Enforcement Directorate (ED), KTR noted that the agency had become more aggressive. He also stated that he had filed a petition to quash the case in the Telangana HC and expressed full confidence in the judiciary.
“Cases cannot be booked just based on suspicion; it requires evidence. The ACB booked a case against me when there is no corruption and no monetary advantage. Where is the undue benefit to me in the case?” KTR said during an informal media interaction at Telangana Bhavan on Monday.
The BRS leader further accused both the Congress and BJP of colluding and claimed that the Centre had failed to address his complaints on several issues, including Amruth tenders and civil supplies. He also criticized the BJP for not responding to the ED raids on Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s offices.
KTR maintained that while he stood by his statements and decisions, he could not be held responsible for any procedural lapses in administration. “CM A Revanth Reddy alleged 600 crore corruption in the Formula E-race case, but why were there no cases on organisers of Formula E-race, when they also got benefit? When we exposed the photograph of organisers meeting CM, Revanth Reddy is blackmailing the officers,” KTR alleged.
He also questioned whether the cabinet had approved the cancellation of the Formula E race and dared the CM to cancel the tenders for the Outer Ring Road (ORR) if any corruption allegations were substantiated. KTR accused the Congress govt of adopting a strategy of 3Ds: “Destruction, Distraction, and Diversion” in the face of its failure to fulfill its promises, and vowed that BRS would expose the govt in the upcoming local body elections.
On the Sandhya theatre stampede incident, KTR demanded 25 lakh in compensation for the families of farmers, auto drivers, and Gurukul students, in addition to the compensation for Revathi, who had died in the incident. “After a meeting with people from the film industry, the CM’s ego was satisfied. The action against Sandhya theatre was merely a diversion tactic to deflect attention from the real issues faced by the people,” KTR said.
