Physician-scientist Bharati Kulkarni took over as the new director of ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) on Wednesday (January 1, 2025). She has served the institute for the last 20 years. For the last three years, she has been heading the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Division of reproductive, child health and nutrition, New Delhi.
A paediatrics post-graduate from Pune University, she also has a Masters in Public Health from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA, and a doctoral degree from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.
Dr. Kulkarni has conceptualised and led many multi-centric research projects on maternal and child nutrition. She has authored more than 130 publications in peer reviewed international journals, said a press release.
