Honda has revealed its ambitious strategy for the Indian market, focusing on expanding its SUV and EV product lineup. The Elevate was the first of the major product launches from the Japanese automaker that significantly helped revitalize the brand’s presence in the country. The company has managed to sell nearly 90,000 units of the Honda Elevate since its market launch in September 2023. Aiming to further boost its sales performance, the carmaker will introduce a new Elevate Black Edition in January 2025.

The Honda Elevate Black Edition, as the name suggests, will feature a sporty black exterior. This special edition will come with all-black alloy wheels, black cladding around the body, and tinted glass for the rear windows, rear windshield, and sunroof. All-Black Interior

Unlike the standard model, which comes with a dual-tone black and brown interior theme, the Elevate Black Edition will have an all-black interior. Black Edition badges will also be present, while the overall cabin layout and features will remain similar to the regular Elevate. This special edition will be based on the top-end variant of the SUV, offering all the features and equipment available in the model lineup.Same Petrol Engine

No changes will be made under the hood. The Honda Elevate Black Edition will use the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. The engine will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT automatic gearbox. The special edition will also come with a front-wheel drive (FWD) system.

Honda Elevate EV Launch On the Cards

Honda Cars India has confirmed that it will introduce a new electric SUV based on the Elevate midsize SUV in 2026. This EV will share the same platform as its ICE version, which has been designed to accommodate an electric powertrain. Specifications are yet to be revealed, though the Honda Elevate EV is expected to feature a battery pack ranging between 40kWh and 50kWh, offering a range of over 400km on a single charge. The electric Elevate is likely to come with a front-mounted electric motor and an FWD setup. Production of the EV will take place at Honda’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. Once launched, the Elevate EV will compete against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVitara, and Mahindra XUV 9e. It will also rival the MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv EV.
