Kia Syros, yet another sub-4 metre compact SUV, is all set to launch in February 2025. While the official prices will be announced on February 3rd and deliveries to take place from the second week onwards, the bookings are open from midnight today. Since we have already checked out the car and several details are already out, we can talk about the product at length.
For people not in the know, Kia Syros is based on the modified Sonet platform to adopt connectivity & ADAS level 2 features along with a more stringent platform to achieve higher safety. Since the Syros will be positioned above the Sonet, we won’t see the 1.2L, 4-cylinder, petrol engine. Instead, will be offered with more powerful engine options: a 1.0L TGDI turbo (118bhp, 175Nm) and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel (114bhp, 250Nm) both of which also power the Seltos.
Kia Syros Interior & Exterior – First Look
What makes the Syros different from the Sonet is its more flexible seating arrangement – rear seat can be reclined at multiple levels – and a more premium interior with never-seen-before features in the segment. The top-end trim gets features like ventilation for both front and rear passegners, soft touch elements across the cabin, Radar + camera based ADAS Level 2 features (highest in the segment), front and rear parking sensors (12 in total), 4-way electrically-adjustable driver seat, OTA updates to fix all the software glitches among several pthers.
For the first time, we’ll also see a proper 6-speed manual with the TGDi turbo engine. With the Sonet, only the IMT was offered. There will also be a 7-speed DCT with the turbo petrol. The diesel engine too will get both the 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter-automatic gearbox options.

Though the Sonet and Syros will enventually fall in the same price bracket, the latter will attract people looking for a proper family vehicle with flexible seating options and segment-leading 465-litres of boot space. We haven’t driven the car yet, but we can clearly say that the Syros is the new benchmark in the segment when it comes to quality and features.
As mentioned earlier, the Syros’ prices will be announced after its public debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility (Auto Expo) on 3rd February. We estimate its prices to start at Rs 9.50 lacs for the base turbo trim and the top-end diesel automatic will go all the way upto Rs 15 lacs (ex-showroom). Stay tuned to ICN for more updates on the same.
