I was on a solo trip to Dapoli and Murud the last week of December. Took along the Brompton with me so I could get some cycling around these parts. I’ve not really been cycling regularly at all the last few years so could only muster short rides around where I was staying or when I took it in my car on some drive arounds.
All in all, good fun and such a pleasant change to ride around these clean, pristine and picturesque places away from the hustle bustle and pollution of our typical city rides.
Opened the cycling innings with this quick ride at Anjarle to take in the sunrise.
I’ve got the flat handlebar version. Slightly twitchy and much sharper handling Brommie.
Back at my place of stay (Saffronstays Athaang, Dapoli), parked in with the bigger bikes
Headed immediately to the Harnai Bandar fish market to see the morning fish auction.
It sure got its share of pics next to a boat that day.
Another unscheduled stop at the Goa Fortress nearby.
The next day made a day trip to Kelshi, where I stopped at the Mahalakshmi temple. Time to switch to the Brompton.
Bike and rider both did a short folded prayer at the temple
Opened up here, looks almost comically small alongside the car.
Riding up to the Yakub Baba dargah from here.
Another pic on the ride up.
Parked here at the Dargah. There is an absolutely exquisite view from a little behind this place.
Once I was back down went for a nice scenic ride around Kelshi itself.
More on these lovely inside lanes in my longer post on the whole week long trip, which I’ll cover in my GLC ownership thread.
Now at Murud, clicked very close to where I’m staying.
Took a short ride to a view point from where you can see Murud Janjira Fort.
A view along that ride. Courtesy the RayBan Meta glasses. Love them for these ‘click on the fly’ POV pics.
Another on the fly pic here while riding.
Somewhere at the turn off to head to the Murud Janjira Fort. These are the Khokari Tombs – three 500 year old stone tombs of the early rulers of the erstwhile Janjira State.
No captions needed for these.
Back at the property, just outside my room. At Saffronstays Little Paradise, Murud.
