Telangana Govt to celebrate Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary as Women’s Teachers’ Day

January 3 every year to be marked as Women Teacher’s Day, announced Telangana government to honour Savitribai Phule’s contribution to women’s education. File

Telangana government has issued orders to celebrate the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phuleon January 3, as Women’s Teachers’ Day.  It will be celebrated throughout the State as a State function. Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari issued orders on Thursday (January 2, 2025) directing collectors to hold the celebrations.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Savitribai Phule stood as a pioneer for women’s education and fought for equality, and the government was committed to the realisation of her aspirations.

Chief Minister recalled the services and sacrifices and said that Savitribai Phule laid the foundation for a historic change in Indian society giving her life to give priority to women’s education and provide justice to the oppressed communities.
