The Maruti Suzuki eVitara will mark the carmaker’s debut in the Indian electric vehicle segment. The midsize electric SUV, which is essentially the production version of the eVX concept, is set to make its first public appearance at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. This event will be part of the second edition of the annual Auto Expo, slated to begin on 17th January in New Delhi. The official prices for the Maruti e Vitara will be announced in March, though its launch date has yet to be revealed.
Once launched, this EV will face competition from the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta EV. Let’s take a closer look at six exciting details of the new Maruti electric SUV.

1. Born EV Platform
The Maruti e Vitara, the first BEV (battery electric vehicle) from the Indo-Japanese automaker, has been designed on the all-new skateboard platform called Heartect-e. The carmaker states that the architecture features eAxles, which consist of a motor and an inverter. It has a lightweight structure and high-voltage protection. With a short overhang and optimized floor design, the platform ensures maximum cabin space.
2. BYD’s Battery Packs
Maruti Suzuki has sourced the battery packs from the world’s leading EV manufacturer, BYD. The e Vitara comes with two battery options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh – and a single electric motor setup as standard. These batteries deliver a claimed power of 144 bhp and 174 bhp, respectively. Both versions have a torque rating of 189 Nm. The larger 61 kWh battery can also be paired with the dual-motor and AllGrip-e AWD setup, offering a maximum power of 184 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The range figure for the new Maruti electric SUV has yet to be revealed, though it’s expected to promise a range of around 500 km on the global test cycle.

3. Could Be 1st Maruti To Get ADAS
The Maruti e Vitara could be the brand’s first model in India to feature ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). This autonomous safety suite includes lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert, forward collision warning, and high beam assist.
4. Upgraded Interior
Compared to existing Maruti Suzuki models, the e Vitara electric SUV boasts a more evolved interior, featuring a floating dual-screen setup (for the infotainment and instrument cluster), a floating center console in a gloss black finish, a twin-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, and part-fabric, part-leatherette upholstery. The cabin is equipped with several comfort features such as single-zone automatic climate control, multiple airbags, a wireless phone charger, heated mirrors, adjustable headrests, Isofix child seat mounts, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, and more.

5. Conventional Design Approach
While the interior receives a significant upgrade, the exterior design language remains conventional. The Maruti e Vitara retains most of its design elements from the concept. Some highlights include the charging ports on the front flanks, tri-slash LED DRLs at the front and rear, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a pronounced hunch over the rear wheel arch. The overall dimensions of the eVitara are 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. The new Maruti electric SUV offers a ground clearance of 180 mm and carries a kerb weight between 1,702 kg and 1,899 kg.
6. Premium Pricing
The new Maruti e Vitara will be a premium offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker, to be sold through Nexa dealerships. The base variant with the 49 kWh battery is estimated to be priced around Rs 20 lakh, while the higher variant with the 61 kWh battery might cost nearly Rs 25 lakh for the 2WD version and Rs 30 lakh for the e-AllGrip AWD variant.
