Volkswagen Tayron 7-Seater SUV India Launch Detail

Volkswagen India has planned to introduce a range of new models this year, including the entry of the Golf GTI performance hatchbackan electric SUV, and a three-row SUV. The German automaker will also provide a midlife update to its existing Virtus midsize sedan and Taigun midsize SUV. The Volkswagen Tayron 7-seater SUV, set to replace the Tiguan AllSpace, is expected to hit showrooms in the third quarter of 2025, just before the festive season.

The new Volkswagen 7-seater SUV will compete with the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and Nissan X-Trail. It will be brought to India as a CKD (completely knocked down) unit. The SUV’s prices are expected to range from Rs 35 lakh to Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen Tayron 7-seater SUV – Engine & Gearbox

In global markets, the VW Tayron SUV is available with four engine options – petrol, mild-hybrid petrol, plug-in hybrid petrol, and diesel. In India, the three-row SUV will feature a single 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, offered in two states of tune: 184 bhp with 320 Nm of torque and 217 bhp with 350 Nm of torque. Both setups will be available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Compared to the Tiguan, the new Tayron is 231 mm longer, allowing it to accommodate an additional row of seats. The interior layout closely resembles the Tiguan. It will come with a 10.15-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 15-inch head-up display (HUD). Features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 700W Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated and massage-enabled powered front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, and 10-color ambient lighting will also be on offer.

The global-spec Tayron will be equipped with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, which includes nine airbags, hands-free parking, and a rearview camera.

The new Volkswagen 7-seater SUV carries the brand’s signature design language. The front features projector headlamps with optional Matrix LED lights, the signature grille, and a bumper with a large single vent. Other design highlights include a floating roof, blacked-out roof and D-pillar, and LED-connected taillamps.
