India will be more than happy to take any and every bit of help that the pacer can provide, given the shambolic collpase of the batting order that followed yet again, leaving the visitors sitting at an ugly 141/6.

The Indian batting order may be in shambles yet again in the second innings, but the team and fans will be happy to hear that stand-in skipper and ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah may reportedly be back in action for the visitors against Australia by Day 3 in Sydney.

Bumrah, who has 32 wickets to his name in the ongoing five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, only bowled one over in the second session of the second day’s play after which he was escorted out of the field, and, shortly after, the stadium altogether for the hospital for a potential injury.

In what would come as excellent news for India — though with only cautious optimism — he was seen sprinting back up the pavilion stairs after a handful of hours, but would not partake in any more of Day 2’s action.

After the end of day’s play, Indian quick Prasidh Krishna confirmed in a presser that Bumrah was suffering from ‘back spasms’ and was being monitored by the Indian medical staff ahead of a crucial third day in the final Test in Sydney.

Now, according to reports from TOI, Bumrah is expected to pad up and take to the crease when needed from tomorrow onwards, but a final call on whether the pacer will be involved in weaving more magic with the ball later is yet to be decided.

“Bumrah was taken for a precautionary scan after a back spasm, but nothing serious at the moment. He should be okay to bat, but a final call on bowling will be taken on basis of how he feels in the morning,” reported TOI after conversations with a well-placed source in the Indian dressing room.

India will be more than happy to take any and every bit of help that the pacer can provide, given the shambolic collpase of the batting order that followed yet again, leaving the visitors sitting at an ugly 141/6 at the end of Day 2.

With hopes of India being able to muster a formidable target seemingly fading, Bumrah will be looked up to inspire the bowling ranks and lead India to a possible victory in their hunt to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and to stay in contention for the WTC final.
