Rythu Bharosa scheme from Jan 26, T farmers to get Rs 12k/acre

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced the implementation of the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ investment support scheme for farmers and also provision of new ration cards from January 26. The date coincides with the completion of 75 years of the country’s Constitution coming into existence.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the state cabinet, the CM said Rs 12,000 per acre per year would be provided to the farmers under the scheme, an election promise of the ruling Congress. The financial support will be extended without any conditions.
The cabinet, after nearly a three-hour long meeting, also decided to implement the Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa scheme that will provide Rs 12,000 annually to landless agricultural families. This scheme is expected to cover tenant farmers and farm workers, with detailed information to be provided in the coming days.
Revanth expressed his happiness over the good news to farmers. He announced that the Rythu Bharosa amount would be increased from the previous Rs 10,000 per acre per year to Rs 12,000 per acre per year now. This decision was made keeping the state’s financial position in mind, with the CM explaining that the govt’s goal was to increase its income and distribute it equitably among the poor. When asked about the Congress promise of Rs 15,000 per acre, the CM clarified that the cabinet decided on Rs 12,000 due to the state’s current fiscal situation.
The aim, he said, is to ensure that govt revenues benefit the poor, aligning with the state’s policy of ‘prajala prabhutvam’ (people’s governance).
However, the financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa will not apply to non-agricultural land. This includes land used for mining, real estate development, roads, residential, industrial, or commercial purposes, and land acquired for govt projects or industries.
The CM also appealed to farmers to voluntarily submit details of land acquired by the govt but mistakenly receiving Rythu Bandhu benefits. He assured that officials from the revenue department would clarify, through gram sabhas, which land was excluded from the scheme due to discrepancies in the Dharani portal and revenue records.
This move is part of the govt’s ongoing effort to provide better support for the farming community while ensuring that public resources are properly allocated, sources said.
