Regional Passport Officer K. Siva Harsha on Saturday (January 4) said 2024 was a landmark year for the Regional Passport Office (RPO-Vijayawada), handling 3,23,553 passport-related applications.
RPO-Vijayawada has two Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs), one in the city and another in Tirupati, and 13 Post Office Kendras (POPSKs) under its jurisdiction. It was only last year that the RPO was shifted from Visakhapatnam to the city.
Addressing media persons at the PSK in Vijayawada, Mr. Harsha expressed happiness at having enhanced the citizen experience in various services. “We are dealing with 250 appointments per day, and the aim is to reach 400,” Mr. Harsha said, thanking the POPSKs and PSKs for their efforts.
In June 2024, the RPO was awarded the best office in its category for delivering services of high standards during 2023-24, he said.
“Moreover, the expansion works at the PSK in the city are nearing completion. These additional facilities will enhance the delivery of passport services to the residents of Andhra Pradesh,” he said, lauding his team and the Department of Posts, Police and Tata Consultancy Services for their support.
He announced that the PSK in Vijayawada would be launching a special drive on Wednesdays in January, offering 250 additional appointments to facilitate early and convenient services to applicants in the region. Apart from this, Police Clearance Certificate appointments have been increased at all 13 POPSKs, he said.
Citizens have been advised to avoid using touts and agents for passport services. Fresh appointments and rescheduling can be availed by applicants on the official website: www.passportindia.gov.in.
