‘Yeru river fest’ from Jan 9 to 11 | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A small tribal village near Bhadrachalam, Bojjiguppa, is preparing to host its first-ever ‘Yeru-the River Festival’, from Jan 9 to 11. This unique cultural experience promises to be a new chapter for the Koya tribals and for the tourists visiting the village.
The Koya tribals, who live about 10 km from Bhadrachalam, have recently been trained to welcome tourists, offering them a taste of their distinct culture. They have learned to greet visitors, serve traditional home-cooked meals, and involve them in their traditional songs and dances. The festival will also feature a boat ride on a small lake near the village.
“The Koya tribals have a unique culture that is special to this district. Our schedule allows visitors to interact with them, explore their fields, and purchase locally made products,” said Jitesh V Patil, Bhadradri Kothagudem district collector. The village has only 50 families, and they are excited to showcase their culture during the festival.
While thousands of people flock to Bhadrachalam each year for the Mukkoti Ekadasi festival, officials have also planned for tourists to experience more of Kothagudem district, with the tribal village being one of the highlights. Visitors will stay in camping tents along the Godavari river during their trip to Bojjiguppa, where they will spend an evening immersed in the local traditions.
