Rebutting the charges against Congress by BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on opportunities to Backward Classes, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that people are aware of the humiliation meted out to Eatala Rajender by the BRS when he claimed stakes in the party.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Mr. Prabhakar reminded BRS that Mr. Rajender was humiliatingly thrown out by the BRS when he said he also equally owned the pink flag (BRS party flag). Now, Ms. Kavitha is shedding crocodile tears on the rights of BCs after ignoring them for 10 years.
Mr. Prabhakar suggested to Ms. Kavitha to make a BC leader as the party president or working president or leader of the Opposition in the Assembly before criticising the Congress whose foundation itself was based on social justice. Why was she silent when the BRS ill-treated Prof. Jayashankar, Desineni Chinnamalliah or Srikantha Chary’s mother, he asked.
He mocked Ms. Kavitha saying even the BC meeting at Indira Park is not led by a BC leader. Such is the situation of the BRS party and those leaders are trying to teach lessons to the Congress, he said, reminding that Congress in Telangana was led by a BC leader. “Can she at least explain why the BC reservations in local bodies were reduced to 27% from 34% by the BRS government?” he asked.
The Minister also reminded that the Congress party increased the mess charges by 40% for BC students and paid the unpaid charges from the BRS government. Naming Praja Bhavan as Jyotiba Phule Bhavan and celebrating Savitri Bhai Phule’s birth anniversary as Women Teachers’ Day reflect the Congress party’s commitment.
