Cold wave continues in Telangana, Adilabad records lowest temperature of 5.9°C

Telangana continues to endure a biting cold wave, with temperatures plummeting across several districts on Sunday. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), ten of the State’s 33 districts recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C.

Bheempoor in Adilabad registered the lowest temperature at 5.9°C, followed by Sirpur in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad at 6°C. Other districts facing severe cold included Kohir in Sangareddy (7.1°C), Thallada in Khammam (7.4°C), and Shabad in Rangareddy (7.9°C). Nirmal’s Pembi (8°C), Dongli in Kamareddy (8.3°C), Rajapur in Mahabubnagar (9.2°C), Kotepally in Vikarabad (9.3°C), and Nennel in Mancherial (9.5°C) were also among the coldest regions.

Meanwhile, areas with temperatures above 10°C included Beerpur in Jagtial (10.5°C), Narsapur in Medak (10.7°C), Gambhiraopet in Rajanna Sircilla (10.7°C), and Akbarpet-Bhoompally in Siddipet (10.9°C). Hyderabad’s Marredpally recorded a relatively milder 13°C. The highest minimum temperature in the State was observed in Maddirala, Suryapet, at 15.5°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a bulletin forecasting mist or haze during morning hours in isolated areas of Telangana for the next five days. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain below normal for at least the next three days, the bulletin said.

In Hyderabad, the IMD predicted partly cloudy skies with mist and hazy conditions during the early hours of Monday. The city’s maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 30°C and 14°C, respectively.
