Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) plans to expand its premium product portfolio as the market gradually shifts towards full-sized vehicles. In 2025, the Japanese automaker will introduce three new SUVs, including a 7-seater based on the Hyryder, the new-generation Fortuner, and the Urban Cruiser EV. Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming Toyota SUVs:

This new three-row SUV from Toyota will feature a strong hybrid powertrain, designed to challenge the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV700. Similar to its 5-seater sibling, the Toyota Hyryder 7-seater will offer the 1.5L K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.5L TNGA Atkinson cycle hybrid powertrain options. While the former delivers 103bhp and 137Nm of torque, the latter produces a peak power of 114bhp. Transmission options might include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and an eCVT (for the strong hybrid variant only).
Most of its design elements and features will resemble the 5-seater Hyryder, though a few cosmetic changes and additional features are expected to differentiate the two models. Compared to its smaller sibling, the new Toyota Hyryder 7-seater SUV will be longer and more spacious.
New-Generation Toyota Fortuner

The new-generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to debut this year. The biggest upgrade will likely be the introduction of a new 2.0L turbo petrol engine that generates 400bhp and 549Nm of torque. This gasoline engine will replace the existing 204bhp, 2.8L turbo diesel engine. Toyota claims that the new 2.0L petrol unit is 30% more energy-efficient and has a lower carbon footprint.
The 2025 Toyota Fortuner will adopt the new TNGA-F platform and benefit from advanced features such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), a hydraulic steering system, and vehicle stability control. Significant cosmetic updates are also expected, including a redesigned grille, revised bumpers, thicker side cladding, new dual-tone alloy wheels, and an updated headlamp assembly with integrated DRLs.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is one of the most anticipated Toyota SUVs planned for 2025. The model recently made its global debut through official images, and its market launch is likely to take place in the second half of the year. It is essentially a re-badged version of the forthcoming Maruti e-Vitara, which is scheduled to hit the roads in March 2025.
This electric SUV will offer two battery pack options: 49kWh and 61kWh, paired with a single electric motor setup. The smaller battery will produce a maximum power of 144bhp and 189Nm of torque, while the larger pack will generate 174bhp and 189Nm. The 61kWh battery pack will also be available with a dual-motor setup and an AWD system, delivering a combined power output of 184bhp.
Key features of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will include an ADAS suite, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, a JBL audio system, and more.
