Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil inaugurated the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (RPF dry canteen) on DRM’s office premises in Vijayawada on Monday, January 6.

The canteen, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, under Rail Suraksha Kalyan Nidhi, will be manned by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Vijayawada Division, said RPF Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Valleshwar Babuji Thokala.

The canteen serves both in-service and retired RPF personnel and their families who can avail the services using the KPKB beneficiary card. It offers a wide range of items, including groceries, consumables, lifestyle products, uniforms, electronic appliances, and even two-wheelers and four-wheeler vihicles at concessional rates, the DRM said.

Later, Mr. Patil flagged off a new 38-seater bus and eight bullet motorcycles procured for the RPF personnel. The bus will be used to transport RPF personnel to various field areas within the Vijayawada-Gudur, Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada-Machilipatnam-Narasapur sections.

The vehicles would be used for conducting raids against anti-social elements at vulnerable railway stations.

The vehicles will be allotted for the RPF posts located at Rajahmundry, Chirala, Gudivada, Rayanapadu, Crime Branch, Special Branch, UP Yard, and Divisional Stores.

These vehicles will enhance the mobility of RPF personnel, enabling them to respond swiftly to crime scenes, untoward incidents, and other critical duties, the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner said.

Additional DRM (Infrastructure) P.E. Edwin, Additional DRM (Operations) Srinivas Rao Konda, RPF Assistant Security Commissioner G. Madhusudana Rao and other officers were present.
