Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay on Sunday alleged that K Chandrasekhar Rao’s decade-long involvement in politics lacked substance and now both KCR and the BRS party were considered relics.
At a press conference he said: “The public is losing interest in the party. Apart from the support of a few figures, there is hardly any support from the grassroots.”
The Union minister said what is the point of being the leader of the Opposition if he is not active. “Is KCR just a backup player in the BRS, who comes out only when it is necessary?” he asked.
“KCR, who was a minister in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet, didn’t even offer condolences on his death,” Sanjay said.
“He is a traitor. When the public is in trouble, he is silent. If you prefer to stay in a farmhouse instead of attending important commemorations, what kind of opposition leader are you? How can you represent the people?” he charged, adding that if family members are to be given opposition roles, Harish Rao should be considered.
“The era of KCR’s family rule is over and he should accept it,” the Union minister said.
