KT Rama Rao refuses to enter ACB office in Hyderabad sans advocate

HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao, after reaching the ACB office, refused to enter the premises, alleging that agency sleuths were unwilling to allow his advocate to accompany him.
Rama Rao was summoned by the ACB as he is the prime accused in the alleged Rs 55 crore illegal transfer of money to the UK-based Formula E Operations (FEO) while planning to host the second edition of Formula E racing.
Anticipating KTR’s arrival, a large police bandobust was arranged near the ACB headquarters in Banjara Hills. Upon reaching the office, KTR’s car was stopped outside. He insisted that he would enter only if his advocate was allowed to accompany him.
After an argument with the police, KTR handed over a letter to ACB officials near the gate and left. Initially, he intended to deliver the letter to ACB officials in person to request deferral of the questioning, citing that his quash petition was pending before the High Court.
“In your notice, you have not provided details of the information and documents sought from me pertaining to the case. You are requested to give details of the documents sought to enable me to take further necessary action, with reasonable time for the same. Being a law-abiding citizen, I will cooperate in the matter, subject to my constitutional and legal rights as provided by law,” KTR stated.
“Since the matter has been finally heard by the High Court and reserved for judgment, you may consider deferring the questioning until the judgment is pronounced and proceed further in accordance with the law, subject to the orders of the High Court,” the BRS leader added. He then left the premises.
