Municipal Commissioner reviews development projects in Guntur

Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu has directed urban planning and engineering officials to expedite the road expansion of the Reddypalem Inner Ring Road. The Commissioner inspected the road widening works from Sanjeevaiah Nagar Railway Gate to Reddypalem on Monday, January 6 and directed the officials to work in coordination to minimise the inconvenience caused to the residents.

The GMC chief urged town planning authorities to adhere to the Master Plan and Road Development Plan (RDP) while executing the project. He highlighted potential traffic issues that may arise due to the construction of the Sankar Vilas Road-over-Bridge and directed the officials to develop alternate routes.

Mr. Srinivasuslu instructed officials to mark affected properties, notify building owners, and obtain acknowledgements before proceeding with demolition work. After the demolition, the engineering department is directed to promptly begin the road and drainage construction by completing the tender processes.

Later, the Commissioner inspected the pipeline interconnection works at Sanjeevaiah Nagar Railway Gate and directed officials to ensure the quality and timely completion of the project. 

The Commissioner also reviewed 24 complaints from citizens during a “Dial Your Commissioner” and Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) session. He instructed the officials to categorise complaints based on urgency and ensure resolution within deadlines. He also warned the officials against reopening resolved grievances and insisted that the department heads conduct field-level inspections to ensure accountability.

Of the 40 complaints registered through the PGRS, the engineering department received 15 complaints, town planning 11, revenue 2, public health 4, and accounts eight complaints each. The Commissioner directed the officials to promptly address the issues while maintaining transparency and communication with complainants.
