Warangal district is witnessing a surge in unauthorised diagnostic centres operating without government approval, raising serious concern among medical authorities. These centres, often run by unqualified technicians, are found to be conducting arbitrary and unnecessary lab tests, misleading people with false promises and dubious offers.

One such case came to light recently when a health camp was organised on the CKM College grounds in Deshaipet, Warangal, under the name of ‘Kakatiya Healthcare Centre’. The camp, lacking government authorisation, was found to be issuing fake lab reports, triggering an investigation by the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC).

According to V. Naresh Kumar from the TGMC Public Relations Committee, the camp was managed by Mukka Arun Kumar, a lab technician from Jangaon district, who was conducting blood tests at discounted rates without obtaining proper permissions or adequate testing equipment. Upon inquiry, Arun Kumar was unable to justify the issuance of reports, which had the digital signatures of pathologists Sunkari Naresh Babu and Pratima.

When questioned, Naresh Babu denied any association with Kakatiya Healthcare Centre and stated he was unaware of the administrator or the camp. TGMC investigators confirmed that the reports issued were fabricated. “Arun Kumar initially claimed a memorandum of understanding with Manipal Laboratories in Hyderabad but failed to provide any supporting documents, eventually admitting to his misconduct,” said Dr Naresh from TGMC.

The TGMC has taken action, filing complaints with the district medical authorities and issuing notices to the individuals involved. Dr. Naresh Kumar urged public to be cautious of diagnostic centres promoting online campaigns and discounted packages. He highlighted that unauthorised labs often provide inaccurate test results without proper medical supervision, jeopardising public health.

The council has appealed to residents to verify the credentials of diagnostic centres and avoid those operating without government approval.
