ED calls KTR for questioning on Jan 16

Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned BRS working president and former minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) to appear before the agency on Jan 16 in the investigation into alleged irregularities in the Formula E case. The ED case is based on the FIR registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
KTR was earlier summoned by ED on Tuesday, but in an email sent to the agency on Monday he had declined to attend the questioning and sought 14 more days. He had also requested the ED to wait for the Telangana high court‘s judgment in the case. The HC, however, dismissed KTR’s plea to quash the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) FIR, following which the ED issued fresh summons.
The central agency has already summoned the other two accused – senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) former chief engineer BLN Reddy – for questioning. Both were initially scheduled to appear on Jan 2 and 3, but had sought extensions. Kumar and Reddy have now been summoned on Jan 8 and 9 respectively.
The ED is investigating allegations of financial mismanagement and potential violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
