Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency to get separate police station | India News

The Telangana Government on Tuesday issued an order directing the establishment of a special police station for the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA). It will have the powers to register cases based on specific instructions from the HYDRAA chief.

According to the order, the police station will be located at B-Block of Buddha Bhavan and will register cases against land-grabbers, encroachers, vandals, and defacement of public properties, as well as other cases related to asset protection and related subjects within its territorial jurisdiction. The station house officer of the police station will be an officer in the rank of assistant commissioner of police. Police personnel will be attached to the station on a deputation basis.

Requesting the Government for a separate police station, HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath said in his proposal that the agency finds it difficult to process and monitor illegal activities since its jurisdiction covers the entire area within Outer Ring Road, while law and order police stations have their regular cases to handle.

HYDRAA was established in July 2023 with the commissioner as its chief. The agency is governed by the chief minister, who serves as its chairman, along with other members. The agency has been in the news for its demolition drives razing multi-storey structures as well as temporary shelters for the poor.
