Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed the officials concerned to prepare comprehensive detailed project reports (DPRs) pertaining to extension of metro rail to Future City, Shamirpet and Medchal.
The officials were asked to complete the DPR’s by March and take steps to secure Central government’s approval for them soon so that tenders could be invited before April-end. The Chief Minister gave the directions at a meeting with senior officials to review metro rail extension and construction of elevated corridors on Tuesday.
Accordingly, land acquisition for the routes – Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Future City (40 km), JBS to Shamirpet (22 km) and Paradise-Medchal (23 km) – should be completed soon so that works could be started at the earliest. On the elevated corridors, he wanted the officials to keep the future needs in view while designing them.
The officials were asked to conduct comprehensive examination at the field level at the time of preparation of alignment and ensure that works were grounded expeditiously. He wanted the officials to factor in presence of three flyovers on the national highway to Medchal while finalising the metro route and steps should be taken to see that there originating point for Shamirpet and Medchal metro lines is same.
Steps should be taken to develop the junction with advanced facilities keeping in view the future needs so that people would not be forced to enter into the city frequently. At the same time, plans should be prepared for development of radial roads under the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited.
