Hyderabad: A city court on Monday sentenced 28-year-old Indla Karthik to rigorous imprisonment for life and imposed a fine of 15,000 for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl from Vanasthalipuram and violating her in 2018. The court also awarded 3 lakh to the survivor. The convict, who was 22 years when he committed the crime, and the survivor are from Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to police, the girl, a student, became close to Karthik. He even had a physical relationship with the girl on the pretext of marriage. After marriage, they moved to Bengaluru and other places to evade the girl’s family. Meanwhile, the girl’s uncle lodged a missing complaint at Vanasthalipuram police station, following which police traced them in AP.tnn
