Local body polls in state soon: Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday briefed on the welfare and development programmes being implemented by the Congress govt over the last year and said panchayat and municipal elections would be conducted soon in the state.
He presented his govt’s performance report to AICC general secretary KC Venugopal at the political affairs committee meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan. “We unanimously passed a resolution in the Telangana assembly seeking Bharat Ratna for former PM Manmohan Singh. The Aramgarh flyover will be named after Manmohan Singh,” he said.
CM Revanth told the AICC leader that the govt would start disbursing Rythu Bharosa financial assistance to the farmers from January 26 and start issuing new ration cards to lakhs of applicants. The agricultural labourers will be given Rs 12,000 per annum, a scheme that will be rolled out from January 26 in the name of Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa.
“The Congress govt waived off Rs 21,000 crore crop loans of farmers. If the previous BRS govt spent Rs 84,000 crore for farmers in 10 years, the incumbent Congress govt spent over Rs 54,000 crore for the welfare of farmers in just one year,” CM Revanth said.
As many as 55,143 govt jobs were given to the youth in one year. Domestic gas cylinders are being provided at Rs 500, free electricity up to 200 units is being extended to the poor, and free bus travel for women, for which the govt paid Rs 4,000 crore to TSRTC so far.
“The Congress govt implemented several promises and will be fulfilling other promises too. Local body elections will be held soon. Congress party workers should effectively communicate govt programmes to the people,” he said.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud assured that the party will work in coordination with the govt. People are happy with the one year of the Congress govt.
