Hyderabad: Telangana will host the national health conference on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) for the first time. The state is set to present its NCD burden and showcase the effective implementation of the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD).
The two-day conference, which begins on Wednesday, will bring together NP-NCD directors from all states, IAS officers from the Union ministry of health, and experts and doctors from leading medical institutes.
Field visits to various districts are also planned for officials to observe the implementation of the programme in Telangana.
The conference will cover several key topics, including challenges in screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of hypertension and diabetes, enhancing cancer care and the role of tertiary care centers in cancer treatment, cancer care registries: hospital-based and population-based statistics, cancer care in public health facilities, prevention, screening, early detection, and management of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, prevention, screening, early detection, and management of chronic kidney disease, obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma: prevention, screening, early detection, and management, tobacco-free youth campaigns and the prevention of NCDs and tobacco de-addiction, alcohol, and substance abuse prevention efforts.
