MedTech Zone’s event for differently-abled athletes to be held in Vizag till January 16.


Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), near here is hosting 9th Boccia National Championship 2024-25, an event celebrating the talents of differently-abled athletes, till January 16.

The championship has brought together over 100 para-athletes from 21 States.

Vice Chief of Indian Army Staff, Lt. General N.S. Raja Subramanyam, will inaugurate the event on January 10 at the AMTZ campus in Visakhapatnam.

Shaminder Singh Dhillon, Secretary General of Boccia Sports Federation of India, Raman Subbarao, Founder General Secretary of the Para Boccia Association of Andhra Pradesh, and Amit Kumar Sharma, Head of the Assistive Technology Centre at AMTZ, highlighted the significance of Boccia in promoting inclusivity and providing a platform for athletes with severe physical disabilities.

By hosting this championship, AMTZ reinforces its commitment to empowering differently abled individuals through assistive technologies and inclusive initiatives. This collaboration reflects AMTZ’s vision of creating equal opportunities and fostering inclusivity in every aspect of life. AMTZ is also hosting Wheelchair Basketball Championship next month in February, they added.

The championship will feature the Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories for boys and girls aged 14 and above. Matches will commence following equipment checks and training.
