Two from State die on the spot, four suffer injuries in road accident in Telangana


Two people died on the spot and four suffered injuries in a road accident on the Mahabubnagar-Raichur National Highway No 167 near Gopalapuram village in Devarakadra Mandal of Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday.

The victims have been identified as 58-year-old Basavaraj Nandikolmath, who was a freelance journalist working for Prajavani, a Kannada daily, in Lingsugur, and 67-year-old Jangamamurthy.

The injured identified as Chinnayya, Amaresh, Bhagawan and Mallanna have been shifted to Mahabubnagar District Hospital.

The condition of two is stated to be critical.

All six from Lingsugur town in Raichur district were returning to town from Kolanupaka village in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district in the neighbouring State after visiting a temple when the accident happened.

According to initial reports, the vehicle in which the victims were travelling collided with a tipper truck. The reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained.

The police rushed to the spot and launched investigation.
