Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed concern that though close to a million engineering students were passing out of colleges every year, a majority of them were lacking the required skills.

The Government had accordingly decided to establish a Skills University on the lines of the Indian School of Business (ISB) for which a board under the chairmanship of Mahindra & Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra had been constituted.. The Chief Minister interacted with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) representatives who gathered in Hyderabad on Friday (January 10, 2025) for their national council meeting.

He sought the support of the CII in setting up a corpus fund required for the management and maintenance of the Skills University. He explained that the government was also setting up Sports University and Sports Hub. This as in addition to upgradation of ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres with an estimated ₹2,400 crore in collaboration with the Tata Group.

He assured the government’s cooperation to the CII and said representatives of the confederation could meet him any time for any help.
