Minister for Mines and Geology Kollu Ravindra on Friday (January 10, 2025) inaugurated buses equipped with medical facilities introduced by the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC).
He also inspected the facilities on the buses and expressed happiness about providing medical services to communities in the mining-intensive areas of Araku and Paderu. Interacting with the staff to gather information about the available medical services, he emphasised that the government always prioritised public service.
The health buses are part of the Corporate Responsibility Scheme and aim at providing better healthcare to the underprivileged. The initiative is an extension of the ₹17-crore development works undertaken by APMDC in 2017.
The Minister said the APMDC has already been providing essential services like healthcare and education in mining areas and is now bringing advanced mobile health services to the people with an investment of ₹1 crore.
The Corporate Responsibility Scheme was neglected between 2019 and 2024, and during that time, there was a clear lack of focus on public health and wellbeing, he said, adding that the scheme would be reinstated.
APMDC managing director Praveen Kumar was also present.
