Hyderabad: The BRS party office in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district was attacked allegedly by Congress workers on Saturday in protest against an objectionable statement made by senior BRS leader and district president Kancharla Ramakrishna Reddy about chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
Videos shared by BRS leaders on social media show a group of people barging inside the party office while raising slogans. The group resorted to vandalism by breaking the furniture, besides removing the photo frame of BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and damaging it. They also tore a flexi inside the office and broke window panes.
Although policemen stationed at the party office attempted to restrain the agitators, they were outnumbered and failed to prevent them from entering the premises and damaging the property. A couple of policemen recorded the violence.
The protest started hours after Ramakrishna made the objectionable statement on Saturday afternoon during a press meet.
“On knowing about the objectionable statement given by Ramakrishna, we anticipated trouble. So, policemen were deployed at the BRS party office, Ramakrishna’s residence, and at a few important junctions. We deployed five policemen at the BRS office, but some time later, 30 protesters barged into the premises,” a senior Rachakonda police officer told TOI.
