Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been made the new treasurer of BCCI. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been elected unopposed. The only application came from Prabhtej Singh Bhatia.

In such a situation, in the meeting held in Mumbai on January 12, Prabhtej was elected unopposed as the new treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This is the first time that a representative of Chhattisgarh Cricket Association (CSCS) will hold such a big responsibility in BCCI.

Can contest elections thrice

Let us tell you that after becoming the new treasurer of BCCI, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will hold his post till September 2025. After this he will be eligible to contest elections again. As per BCCI rules, each official has a tenure of three years and can hold the post for three consecutive terms. There is also a mandatory cooling-off period of three years between each tenure.

Who is Prabhtej Singh Bhatia?

Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, born in Raipur in the year 1991, is the son of the state’s veteran industrialist and social worker Baldev Singh Bhatia. Both of them have a lot of passion for cricket, which is why they took state cricket to new heights. Prabhtej Singh’s father Baldev Singh has also been the President of Chhattisgarh Cricket Association (CSCS). Prabhtej received his schooling from Shimla. After this, he did a course in Finance in Economics Honors from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.

New secretary also appointed

A new secretary has been found in a Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI on January 12. Devjit Saikia has become the new secretary of BCCI. He has got this big responsibility by replacing Jay Shah. After Jay Shah took over as ICC Chairman on December 1, Saikia was working as the interim secretary of BCCI and now he has got the full-time responsibility. Meanwhile, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has taken over the post of Treasurer in place of Ashish Shelar.
