Ford Endeavour, the iconic three-row premium SUV, was discontinued in 2022 when the carmaker decided to crease local manufacturing and wind up its Indian operations. The reasons behind this decision included declining sales, rising manufacturing costs, the end of its partnership with Mahindra and a shift in its global strategy. Ford’s re-entry into India has been speculated upon for a while now. This time, the American carmaker will adopt a different business model. Instead of manufacturing cars in India, Ford will bring in its global models via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
Ford’s 3.0L V6 Diesel Engine Explained
While Ford hasn’t yet confirmed timeline for its re-entry in India, it’s likely to bring back the Endeavour as Ford Everest with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine. This turbocharged diesel engine powers multiple global Ford vehicles including Ranger pickup and F150. It dishes out a maximum power of 250bhp and 600Nm of torque.
The V6 engine has cast iron block with aluminum alloy heads, reducing its weight and enhancing durability. The oil burner has been boosted with technologies such as VGT (variable geometry turbo), common rail direct injection, diesel particulate filter (DPF), AdBlue injection and selective catalytic reduction. The Ford Everest comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and advanced 4WD (four-wheel drive) system.
