As part of its ongoing National Integration Tour, Assam Rifles has been facilitating a remarkable journey for the youth of Manipur to foster greater national cohesion and understanding. The tour, which began on 8 January 2025 and will conclude on 16 January 2025, offers young participants a unique opportunity to explore cultural, historical, and scientific landmarks across southern India.
On the third day, the youths were introduced to Hyderabad’s rich cultural and historical legacy. The day began with a visit to the iconic Charminar, where participants marveled at its architectural beauty and historical significance. The group was immersed in the monument’s history, a testament to Hyderabad’s grandeur.
The journey continued with a visit to the Salar Jung Museum, which houses an impressive collection of art, antiques, and historical artifacts, offering young visitors a fascinating glimpse into India’s artistic and cultural heritage. For many, it was their first encounter with such a vast collection of historical treasures.
Next, the youth explored the Birla Science Museum, engaging with scientific exhibits that sparked curiosity and broadened their understanding of various fields of science and technology. The visit proved to be both engaging and educational for all participants.
Following this, the group visited the serene Birla Temple, admiring its intricate architecture and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The visit provided a cultural respite and a deeper sense of appreciation.
The day concluded with a visit to a mall, offering the youth a modern urban experience that contrasted with the cultural heritage they had encountered earlier. The bustling mall provided insight into contemporary urban life and diverse lifestyles across India.
After concluding their visit to Hyderabad, the youth began their journey to Visakhapatnam (Vizag), marking the next phase of the National Integration Tour. The visit to Vizag will further enrich participants’ understanding of India’s diverse cultures and landscapes.
The National Integration Tour, organized by Assam Rifles, aims to strengthen the bonds of unity, foster a sense of pride, and provide the youth of Manipur with the opportunity to experience and appreciate India’s rich cultural, historical, and technological diversity.
ASSAM RIFLES PAYS TRIBUTE TO MARTYR LANCE NAIK KAMESHWAR RAM
The Assam Rifles organized a wreath-laying ceremony at its Battalion Headquarters in Tengnoupal District on 12 January 2025, to honor the valiant sacrifice of Martyr Lance Naik Kameshwar Ram, a hero of Operation Rakshak.
On this day in 1997, L/NK Kameshwar displayed exceptional bravery while countering militants in the Soura area of Srinagar under the leadership of Major R.S. Rangi. In a fierce encounter, he fearlessly used his Light Machine Gun (LMG) to inflict heavy fire on the militants, halting their advance. During this heroic act, he succumbed to injuries sustained during the operation.
02 Officers, 19 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 56 Jawans paid their respects to this courageous soldier, acknowledging his ultimate sacrifice.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANIZED A MEDICAL CAMP AT SEROU VILLAGE, KAKCHING DISTRICT, MANIPUR
Assam Rifles organized a Medical Camp at Serou Village, Kakching district on 12 January 2025 under Operation Sadbhavana.
The primary objective of the camp was to provide free medical check-ups and treatments to the residents of Serou village. The camp offered a wide range of services, including comprehensive health check-ups and the distribution of essential medicines. A total of 162 patients (52 men, 73 women, and 37 children) were examined, treated, and referred for further care.
This initiative played a crucial role in addressing the healthcare needs of the underprivileged communities in remote areas.
ASSAM RIFLES DISTRIBUTES BLANKETS TO ELDERLY TRIBALS IN MACHI VILLAGE, TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT
Assam Rifles distributed blankets to elderly tribals in the remote village of Machi, Tengnoupal District, on 13 January 2025.
In collaboration with the Mumbai-based Manvata Charitable Foundation, this initiative aimed to provide warmth and comfort to those in need during the harsh winter months. The elderly tribals, who often struggle with basic necessities, were deeply appreciative of the gesture. Approximately 100 villagers participated in the blanket distribution, which was warmly received.
Assam Rifles continues its longstanding tradition of supporting local communities through various civic action programs, including medical camps, educational initiatives, and infrastructure development.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANIZES AWARENESS LECTURE ON DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING FOR STUDENTS AT MANTRIPUKHARI, IMPHAL
On 13 January 2025, Assam Rifles organized an awareness lecture at Assam Rifles Public School, Mantripukhri Garrison, aimed at educating students about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
The session, attended by 35 students, focused on the harmful effects of substance abuse, its impact on health and society, and the importance of staying away from illegal substances. The lecture also addressed the rising concern of illicit trafficking in the region and emphasized the critical role that youth play in combating these issues.
Assam Rifles remains committed to promoting awareness and fostering a healthier, responsible generation through educational initiatives. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students had the opportunity to engage with the topic and clarify their doubts.

19TH EDITION OF LT COL. RAJEEV BAKHSHI, SM (P) MEMORIAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT COMMENCES AT PARBUNG
The 19th edition of the Lt Col Rajeev Bakhshi, Sena Medal (Posthumous) Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Assam Rifles, commenced on 13 January 2025 at Mini Stadium, Parbung, Pherzawl District, Manipur.
The tournament kicked off with an impressive opening ceremony, attended by over 500 people, highlighting the enthusiasm and unity of the local community. A total of 16 teams from Pherzawl, Churachandpur, and Mizoram are participating in this prestigious tournament, which has become a symbol of sportsmanship and camaraderie in the region.
This annual tournament has been held since 2007 in memory of Lt Col Rajeev Bakhshi, Sena Medal (Posthumous), who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting insurgents in Manipur on 20 January 2006. The event reflects Assam Rifles’ commitment to fostering youth engagement and promoting peace through sports.
