The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) announced that the proposed Metro Rail expansion of the city between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar is proposed to have a total of six metro stations. In a post on the social media platform X, HMRL stated that Corridor VIII is expected to have stations at Chintalkunta, Vanasthalipuram, Autonagar, Lecturers’ Colony, RTC Colony, and Hayat Nagar.
However, HMRL also clarified that the stations, locations, and names of the stations are tentative and there might be a change in them, if necessary. Earlier on Friday, HMRL stated that a 7.1 km long second phase of the metro was proposed to decongest the traffic in Hyderabad and the areas nearby.
The HMRL stated that the proposed metro extension to Patancheru and Hayat Nagar will provide convenience to the commuters and also give a major boost to the public transport sector of the city. In a post on X, it stated that people residing in several key areas will benefit from the metro extension from the north-west end of the city to the south-east end.
“With the extension of Miyapur-Patancheru (13.4 km) & Corridor I from Miyapur to LB Nagar (29 km) being already operational, the new route towards Hayath Nagar brings seamless connectivity of about 50 km North West end to South East end of the city from Patancheru to Hayath Nagar,” the post from HMRL stated.
