A man and a woman were found dead at a quarry outside Hyderabad on Tuesday, with his face disfigured by fire and her body partially naked. Police have started an investigation and do not rule out a possible sexual assault.
It was people who arrived at the place near Puppalaguda to watch the sunrise that discovered the bodies and alerted the Narsingi police. Several liquor bottles were also found at the spot.
The police examined CCTV footage from the area and identified the victims as Ankit Saket, 25, a housekeeping staffer from Madhya Pradesh, and Bindu, 25, a native of Chhattisgarh.
“We don’t know what their relationship was, what they were doing at this spot, or if any third person had attacked them,” an officer from the Narsingi police station said.
Ch Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendranagar, inspected the crime scene and said the woman’s body was located 60 m away from the man’s. The police suspect the murders took place on Monday night and that the woman died from a head injury.
A murder case has been registered and the bodies have been transferred to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary.
